Kyra Weichert (KEE-rah WAI-kert)
they/them
Kyra Weichert is a queer, multi-disciplinary artist, based in Toronto, Canada. They are recognized professionally for their boundless energy and playful nature. They’ve performed on sets, stages, and trains across Toronto and the GTA.

Most recently, Kyra has sashayed-across-the-stage as Brunnhilde, the evil stepsister in the panto Cinderella: Stepsisters’ Revenge. Whether in the delicious physical camp of Panto-Land or in subtler realism, Kyra’s sharp reflexes and innate timing creates lively, spontaneous, and layered comic characters.

They approach scripts and characters with empathy and specificity, whether as the cunning, whip-smart Elektra (Orestes) or the troubled, unsettled Cassandra of Troy (Fallen).

Kyra continues to deepen their artistry through classes and workshops. They coach privately with Dora-nominated actor Vivien Endicott-Douglas, and study on-camera with Melee Hutton (MH Studios) and Angela Besharah (The Lighthouse). They also study with Second City (Improv for Actors).

This summer, Kyra will be on set as a lead in Citizens of Nowhere, a feature film they co-wrote with Nathan Powell.

As an artist, Kyra loves to explore new works and new voices, especially those that focus on the exploration of queerness, feminism, gender identity, and mental health.

When not creating, Kyra enjoys spending time at board game cafes or convincing their friends to go to board game cafes.
